A tapering cylinder on a decagonal base with stylized scrolls, the body has a large cartouche depicting the equestrian figure of Ataman Platov on a gilt stippled ground within stylized niello scrolling foliage on a gilt ground. Cast scroll swan shaped handle. Marked with illegible Cyrillic initials Moscow, circa 1840 Height 6½ inches
